Privacy policy
The short version
Hedge collects no data. Everything stays on your devices and, if you use iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud. We never see any of it.
The long version
What we collect
Nothing. There are no user accounts, logins, or profiles. Your answers, scores, calibration data, and streaks are stored locally on your device and, when iCloud sync is on, in the private iCloud storage of your own Apple account. Neither copy is transmitted to us and we cannot see either one. We run no servers.
Network access
Hedge does not transmit your data to any server. The app makes no network requests for analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising, or any third-party service. New question batches may be delivered over the air over your normal device connection, but no information about you is sent in those requests beyond what the operating system itself transmits when checking for updates.
Notifications
If you opt in to daily reminders in Settings, Hedge schedules local notifications on your device. These do not require an account and do not send any data off the device — iOS handles the scheduling locally.
Cloud sync
Hedge can keep your play history in step across your devices using iCloud. Sync is on by default when you are signed into iCloud, and you can turn it off any time in Settings inside the app.
Sync uses Apple's CloudKit private database and iCloud's key-value store: your data is stored under your own Apple ID, alongside your other iCloud data. It is never shared with us or with anyone else, and we have no ability to read it. Apple hosts it; we do not.
Because the data lives in your iCloud account, reinstalling the app or setting up a new device signed into the same Apple ID restores your history automatically. To remove the cloud copy, delete Hedge's data from iCloud in iOS Settings (your Apple ID, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage).
Third-party SDKs
Hedge is built with Expo and React Native, plus a small set of open-source libraries for fonts, icons, and on-device audio playback. None of these libraries collect or transmit user data in the way Hedge uses them. Hedge includes no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Children
Hedge is rated 4+ and contains no advertising, in-app purchases, or user-generated content. It is safe for children but does not specifically target them. We collect no data from any user, regardless of age.
Changes to this policy
When iCloud sync was added (July 2026), this section promised the change would be announced in the app's release notes before shipping, and it was. The same holds going forward: if Hedge ever starts collecting data, this policy will be updated and the change announced in the app's release notes before the new version ships.
